1. Overview
EgyRail Tracker is an Android application for viewing Egyptian railway timetable information, searching trains and stations, planning trips, and saving selected information on the device. This policy applies to the current version of the app with package name com.traintracker.egypt.
2. Accounts and profile information
The current version does not require or create a server-side EgyRail user account. It does not provide Google, Firebase, or EgyRail backend sign-in. The app therefore does not collect an account name, account email address, password, or online profile as part of an EgyRail account.
3. Location permissions
The Android package declares approximate and precise foreground location permissions. These permissions support a controlled, optional foreground contribution capability that is not publicly active in the current release.
The current release does not request background-location permission, does not provide continuous background passenger tracking, and does not continuously transmit passenger location. Live contribution is shown as unavailable, and the production telemetry destination is not configured in the current release.
Permission availability is different from data transmission: declaring a permission in the package does not by itself send location off the device. If an optional contribution feature is introduced or activated in a future release, its behavior and this policy will need to be updated before use.
4. Data stored on the device
The app uses local Android storage, including local databases and preferences, for functions such as timetable data, saved trips, favorites, language and display preferences, notification preferences, and application setup state. Search text is used to filter timetable information in the app; the current release does not send search queries to an EgyRail service.
The application contains local data structures prepared for optional telemetry processing. Because public telemetry contribution is disabled and no production telemetry destination is configured in this release, the current release does not upload passenger telemetry observations to the EgyRail backend.
5. Network communication
The package declares internet access and contains a prepared HTTPS transport component for a controlled telemetry feature. That transport is disabled when no approved endpoint is configured, which is the current production-release configuration. The app's current timetable and catalog functions primarily use data stored on the device.
6. Advertising, identifiers, and analytics
The current production bundle does not include an advertising SDK, does not declare the Google Advertising ID permission, and does not implement advertising functionality. It does not include a Firebase Analytics or crash-reporting SDK. The app does not use the Advertising ID, an analytics SDK, or an advertising SDK to collect or transmit app-usage information.
7. Data sharing
The current release does not send passenger location or telemetry observations to the EgyRail backend, and it does not include advertising or analytics SDKs that receive app data. No server-side EgyRail account information exists to share. This statement describes the current audited release and will need review if network features or third-party services are activated later.
8. Security
We limit current data handling by keeping the app's primary data on the device and leaving unapproved telemetry transmission disabled. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Keep Android and the app updated and use the security controls available on your device.
9. Retention and deletion
Local application data remains on the device until it is removed through an available in-app action, Android's app-storage controls, or uninstalling the app. The current in-app action clears saved local trips; it does not represent deletion of an online account.
The current release does not create a server-side user account and does not upload passenger telemetry to the EgyRail backend. No fixed production server-retention period is stated for a feature that is not active. See Data Deletion for available deletion choices.
10. Your choices
- You can deny or revoke location permissions in Android Settings.
- You can clear saved local trips from the app's Settings screen.
- You can clear all app-local data using Android's storage settings.
- You can uninstall the app to remove its app-local data from the device.
11. Children
EgyRail Tracker is a general railway-information application and is not specifically directed to children. The current version does not create user accounts or online profiles.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app's verified behavior changes. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current published version of the policy.
